Notes:

1939 – Beckinsale wrote in his Companions into Gloucestershire: ‘The well wooded grounds contain an exceptionally tall avenue of yews called the Nun’s Walk, on account of the convent which formerly stood there.’
1988 – C.R.Mullings, who lived in one of the buildings adjacent to the Yew Avenue for 30 years provided the following information to David Bellamy at the Conservation Foundation: ‘The avenue is approximately 100 yards in length. The trees vary a great deal in girth, numbers have unfortunately been reduced during our occupation. We have just measured one of the largest trees, which at 3′ from the ground measured 13′ 3” and at 4′, 13’ 3½”
1998 – Tim Hills: I was only able to observe the yews from a distance.
2008 – Owen Johnson: An avenue of yews called the Nun’s Walk in the garden. A third line runs parallel. Estimated average girth in 2008 was 314cm.
