Notes:

December 1986: Measured by J. Daryll Evans for his book ‘The Churchyard Yews of Gwent’. He recorded a girth of 344cm (about 11′ 3”) at 1m.
August 2005 – Tim Hills: In spite of a small girth this is a perfectly formed horse shoe hollow. Elder and holly were growing close to the tree. Above a height of 5′ it develops into two distinct sides. Girth was 11′ 11” (363cm) at 1′ .
October 2021 – Tim Hills: The tree flares outwards towards the ground and was measured at 1m, recording a girth of 398cm (13′). At a height of 50cm, where a nail was hammered into the trunk, girth was 377cm (12′ 4”).
With a girth of under 4m the tree is presently classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it will in the future be classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
