Notes:

This yew, measured at the height seen in the 1st photograph, is extraordinary for the extent of the sapwood shell of the original tree that has not yet decayed. This is seen clearly in photos 2 to 5, where new growth can be seen at the edges of the old shell, gradually wrapping round it and using it as a scaffolding. The tree is estimated to have a height of 48′.
