Notes:Closest to the road and SW of the church, this is one of a pair of female yews growing about 12m apart. October 2005: Low branches have been removed and its bole is visible. On the side facing the field at a height of about 5′ a hole reveals the tree to be hollow and filled with crumbling heart wood. Between 10′ and 18′ can be seen a part of the original central core of the tree. Girth 14′ 7” ( 444.5cm) at the ground and 15′ 6” (472cm) at 2′ (exaggerated by ivy).
May 2023: The following girths recorded: 15′ 0”(457cm) between the ground and 3”. 16′ 1” (490cm) at 2′ (some ivy and a bulge make this an unreliable measurement). 15′ 1½” (461cm) at 9” (some nails have been hammered into the tree at this height.
