Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 460cm

Girth height: No data

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 1-Jul-13

Source of earliest mention: 1857: White's Directory of Derbyshire

Notes:

July 2013 – Tim Hills: White’s Directory noted that the remains of George Charles were buried ‘at the west end of the church, under an ancient Yew tree’. Soil has gradually piled up around its bole, making girth recording difficult. The bole is solid and very fluted, supporting many thick branches. There was much adventitious growth on the trunk. Many other yews were noted both in the churchyard and the adjacent grounds of Sudbury Hall.
