Tree ID: 1217
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 541cm
Girth height: at 30cm
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 19-Jul-02
Source of earliest mention: 1996: Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust
Notes:July 2002 Tim Hills: Hollow with an internal stem. Girth of 17′ 6” (533cm) at 1′ will decrease considerably when a large dead branch 8’/9′ high and joined to the tree from the ground, falls from the side of the tree. Ivy had been cut. Tree 4 on the plan, it grows at the east end of the church.
In 2011 a girth of 17′ 9” (541cm) at 1′ was recorded, affected by ivy. This now dominates the lower part of the tree and will soon climb into the canopy.
2016 Paul Wood: The most significant tree in the churchyard was totally hidden behind thick ivy. You would struggle to know that a yew tree existed on this spot were it not for some sparse foliage, since the ivy has climbed and hidden the yew well up into its canopy. It was a tree in serious need of attention.
