Tree ID: 3019
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 530cm
Girth height: at 150cm
Tree sex: Unspecified
Date of visit: Various
Source of earliest mention: 2007 - Ancient Tree Hunt Project
Notes:2007 – recorded by the Ancient Tree Hunt (10795): Historic subsidence toward road has resulted in formation of reactive rooting, stabilising the tree.
December 2014 – Tim Hills: The photos show a much reduced tree. Presumably such drastic action was considered necessary?
September 2016 – Paul Wood: This much reduced tree is found in Mowley Lane, Staunton-On-Arrow, although it is only a stones throw from Titley. The land opposite the tree is part of Mowley Farm and is believed to be part of the medieval monastic site at Titley. Mowley Lane appears to be the main artery linking the churches and church properties in this part of Herefordshire. The pictures show that the yew has survived the drastic treatment. The bole is hollow and on the east side of the tree were two fused stems of considerable size, with many smaller stems thriving in the hollow. The hedge line has grown back to the tree making it impossible to measure.
