Notes:2007 – Tottenham House and grounds have been purchased by a consortium and the latest information is that the grounds will become a golf course. What will happen to the trees is unknown. The results of a survey carried out by Jack Oliver have been received by the AYG. He classifies the yews as three types:
(1) low-forking
(2) with a long, vertical, fluted straight trunk branching above 10/20 ft or higher
(3) intermediates. In total 20 yews are recorded, one of these a faller.
Six of the seven recorded with straight trunks have girths as follows: 15′ 1”, 11′ 9”, 10′ 5”, 10′ 4”, 9′ 8” and 7′ 8”.
The eight recorded as forking are as follows: 17′ 9”, 16′ 5”, 16′ 1”, 14′ 3”, 13′ 9”, 11′ 0”, 10′ 4” with one not measured but described as ‘one of the largest here’.
The four intermediates range between 8′ 2” and 14′ 5”.
