Notes:

August 2007 – Dave Martin: The present avenues of yew are recorded in the History of the County of Essex as being planted by Mrs Branfill in 1848 to replace horse chestnuts ‘given by Champion Branfill before 1735’. However the present church warden thought they were planted in the early 1800s. It is hoped that the precise year can be verified since there are no fewer than 51 living yews and two stumps here.
