Notes:The yew was recorded by Straker in 1880 with a girth of 7′ at 2” above the ground. In spite of its small girth Straker considered an age of 500 years.
April 2004 – Tim Hills: An ancient looking tree on a smaller scale. Internal growth in its hollow centre, with branches that are also hollowed out. Rusty chains and metal wire help hold it together. Girth was 11′ 6” (351cm) at 1′.
With a girth of under 4m the tree is presently classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it will in the future be classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
