Tree ID: 4429
Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m
Tree girth: 498cm
Girth height: at 60cm
Tree sex: male
Date of visit: 30-Jun-14
Source of earliest mention: 2014: Ancient Tree Hunt
Notes:June 2014 Peter Norton: Girth of 16′ 4” (498cm) at about 18” (natural waistline).
2016 – Tim Hills: The tree’s south side shows a large cavity and it is completely hollow. I recorded a girth of 16′ 4” (498cm) at 2′ above the ground, where a root bulges towards the church.
March 2024 – Brynley Andrews: Tree surveyed for the PCC. It is in good condition. There has been some unsympathetic pruning but no significant damage. Showing minor signs of health stress; probably relating to soil fertility & soil-water. The stem girth is now 502cm (16′ 6”) after an allowance of minus 1cm for a little ivy. I will be recommending that it has mulching to help it during droughts / climate change.
