November 1999 – Tim Hills: Many thick limbs have been removed, the remaining branches grow upwards rather than outwards. Lacklustre appearance, with dying ivy among its leaves. Girth was just under 16′ at 1′.
June 2014 – Peter Norton: The largest yew here is male growing to the east of the north gate. It was measured above a large lower burr and a girth of 15′ 1” (460cm) was recorded. It looks in poor shape.
