July 2007 – Tim Hills: The yew planted in 1775 was recorded with a girth of 8′ in 1983. In 2007 the yew on the south side girthed 8′ 1” at 1′. The yew shown here grows on the north side of the church on a mound. A hollow leaning tree, its centre is filled with internal growth. It girthed 9′ 10” (300cm) around the base.
With a girth of under 4m the tree is presently classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it will in the future be classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
