Notes:April 2009 – Tim Hills: In the 1857 Rambles around Guildford is an engraving that clearly shows the old yew. The text says ‘nor can we forbear noticing the venerable yew which has with the church not even escaped the artist’s observation’. It lives on and is seen in the photograph of 2009. It is still to be measured.
