Yanworth

Tree number 226132 on the Ancient Tree Inventory. Described by Anne Clayden in 2022 as very sprouty above a clean base. Its girth, already 4.6m. near the ground, nearly doubles at 1.5m due to the thick layer of epicormic growth. Its very hard to see the form through new growth, but the sudden broadening 1m above the ground and the profusion of small stems in the crown do suggest some form of pollarding treatment. Although its hard to see through the new growth, the larger stems are definitely hollow, and there may be further hollowing hidden in the centre of the tree.
